Sabarimala Kollur Mookambika Pilgrimage

Day -1 : Chembora Kalari : Alangad Yogam, Aluva, Cochin

You are greeted on arrival at Airport by representative and transfer to Chembora Kalari, Alangad. As per the legend, Chembora Kalari is the place where Lord Ayyappa had his Kalari Training at the age of 10. Then the Lord lead a team of Kalari Yodhas (known as Alangad Sangam) of Chembora Kalari in a battle against Maravas. Alangad Sangam has an important role in the temple rites of Sabarimala. Pandhalam Kottaram and Ambalapuzha Sangam hold the first and third role in the myth. Alangad Sangam is playing an important role in Erumeli Petta as well.

Kettunira is arranged in Chembora Kalari in the presence of Kambilly Velichappad, who is the only one Velichappad of Lord Ayyappa. Deeparadhana, Panaka Pooja, Chinth Pattu, Chendamelam, Vazhipad Annadana sadya has also been arranged. Need not bring anything other than a bed sheet for the Kettunira. A guru swami will lead the pilgrim group to Sabarimala.

Private rooms with toilet facilities are also arranged in Sannidhanam.

Day -2 : Chembora Kalari Chottanikkara Kaduthuruthi Vaikom Ettumanoor Erumeli Petta Pampa - Sabarimala

Sabarimala yathra starts at 3am and visit Chottanikkara Devi Temple, Valikam Sree Mahadeva Temple, Kaduthuruthi and Ettumanoor Siva Temples etc. After Petta Thullal at Erumeli and Pampa Temple visit, the pilgrims will reach Sannidhanam by 10pm. Participate Harivarasanam at 11pm. Then stay overnight at private rooms.

Day 3 : Abhishekam, Temple visit - Pampa Alangad Chembora Kalari Pattarumadom Health Resort Ayurveda Masage

After the temple visit and Abhishekam, travel back to Alangad Kalari. After some poojas, travel to Pattarumadom Ayurvedic Health Resort. They offer Free Ayurveda Doctor Consultation, Ayurveda Body Massage and all other genuine treatments. Spending rest of the day thereby enjoying nice Kerala meals, Body massages etc. Night stay in Ac Deluxe Rooms in this resort.

Day -4 : Cochin Athirappally Trichur - Guruvayur

After the breakfast, travel to Athirappally waterfalls and Ezhattumukham Nature Village. Visit Punnathoore Elephant sanctuary in the evening at Guruvayur. Night stay in Ac Rooms in the Hotel.

Day -5: Guruvayur Kadambuzha Temple Thalassery - Kannur

After Nirmalya Darshan and breakfast, travel to Kadambuzha Temple. The temple is dedicated to goddess Sree Parvathy Devi. There is no idol in the temple. Muttarukkal (Removing the obstacle by breaking coconuts) is important. Then travel to Thalassery and Kannur. Visit important tourist attractions like Fort St Angelo and Payyambalam Beach in the afternoon. Overnight stay in the Hotel/Resort.

Day -6: Kannur Parasinikadavu Mangalore

Travel to Parasinikadavu temple after the breakfast. Parassinikkadavu is noted for the famous Muthappan temple where people go for worshipping Sree Muthappan. This is the only Hindu Temple in Kerala where a Theyyam performance is a daily ritual offering.

After visiting the Snake Park, travel to Mangalore and visit Mangala Devi, Kadri temples Spend evening time for a small shopping. Overnight stay in the Hotel/Resort.

Kadri Manjunath Temple 5kms

This square temple 5 km from the hotel, with its nine water tanks nestling at the foot of the hill, is a popular destination for pilgrims. Dating to around 1068 A.D., the temple is said to be the oldest in south India.

Mangaladevi Temple 4kms

Just three kilometres from the city, lies the temple from which Mangalore derived its name - the Mangaladevi temple. This temple was built by the Ballal family of Attavar in memory of a Princess of Kerala. This temple has an influence on the name and importance of Mangalore. The temple built in memory of the princess of Malabar Mangale in the 10th century. The Goddess Mangale is worshipped as Shakti.

Day 7: Mangalore Uduppi Kollur Sree Mookambika Temple

Morning 7 clock check out the hotel, travel to Udupi and visit Sri Krishna Temple. After reaching Kollur, visit Mookambika Temple and Veerabhadra Swamy Shrine. Overnight stay in the guest house/hotel.

Mookambika Temple, Kollur

Mookambika Temple is also known as Kolapura Adi Mahalakshmi Temple, which is among the must visit shrines in Kollur. The temple is nestled in the thick forest, in the backdrop of splendid mountain ranges. Its structure reflects ancient Hindu culture and is considered as an architectural marvel.

Day-8: Kollur - Kodachadri -Dharmasthala

Morning check out the hotel and visit Kodachadri, which is found to be nestling between the Western Ghats. The hill is 4411 ft above the sea level. A grand view of the lush green surroundings can be seen from the topmost part of the hill. In the afternoon travel to Dharmasthala which is renowned as Kuduma eight centuries ago, is a famous pilgrim location of Jaina, Shaiva and Vaishnava communities. Main attractions are Dharmasthala Temple, Badinede Betta, Bahubali etc.

Day-9: Dharmasthala sightseeing and travel to Mysore

After the sightseeing, travel to Mysore, The city of Mysore is known as the City Of Palaces. There are number of buildings built by the Royal family and are exquisite examples of Dravidian architecture and display grandeur and lavish life lead by the Emperors while they ruled the state. The KRS dam, Brindavan Gardens and Chamundi Hills, Mysore Palace, Srirangapatnam Fort are the main attractions.

Day- 10: Mysore Sightseeing and Travel to Tirunelli Temple

Leave Mysore in the afternoon to Tirunelli. Thirunelli Temple is the only temple in the world where the devotees can perform all the rituals related to one’s life, starting from birth to death and life after death.

It is one of the most ancient temples in Kerala. It is believed that here the prathishta of Lord Vishnu was performed by Lord Brahma. It is also known as Sahyamala Kshetram and Kashi of the South.Thirunelli Temple draws pilgrims from all over, primarily for ancestral rites. The rituals are performed on the banks of the stream Papanasini which flows down from Mount Brahmagiri.

It is believed that this stream has divine power to dissolve sins of all the mortals. Another major attraction of the temple is the holy rock where people pray for their forefathers.

Day- 11: Tirunelli Temple visit and Wayanad Sightseeing

Kalpetta is the headquarters of and the gateway to Wayanad. Kalpetta is home to tea and coffee plantations and is an important trading centre for spices.

Places of interest around Kalpetta include the Kanthanpara and Soochippara waterfalls; and Pookkot freshwater lake (boating, aquarium, and spices and handicrafts shopping).

Chembra peak- At 2100 mts above mean sea level, Chembra is the highest peak in Wayanad and is ideal for trekking. Climbing this peak is a challenging mountaineering endeavour and would take a full day The scenic beauty of Wayanad, which is visible from the top of Chembra, is very exhilarating. The surrounding areas offer exceptional photo opportunities. Camping on the peak is an unforgettable experience. District Tourism Promotion Council provides guides, sleeping bags, canvases, huts and trekking implements on hire.

Banasura Sagar project-21 kms northeast of Kalpetta. Situated at Padinjarathara. A mini hydel project with the largest earth dam in India and the second largest in Asia is being built here. The Banasura project precincts are an ideal starting point for treks to the Banasura Peak. A quaint feature is a series of islands that were formed when the reservoir submerged the surrounding areas.

Meenmutty falls-An interesting 2 km jungle trek off the main Ooty road, Meenmutty is the largest and most spectacular waterfall in Wayanad. A unique feature is that water drops about 300 metres over three stages.

Jain Temple at Puliyarmala-4 kms north of Kalpetta. This old temple is dedicated to Ananthanatha Swami, one of the most revered Jain Saint.

Edakkal caves-12 kms from Sulthan Bathery. 3 caves are located at a height of 1000 mts on Ambukuthi mala near Ambalavayal. The new stone age pictorial writings on the walls of these natural caves at Edakkal are the evidence of the civilizations that existed in the regions in the pre-historic times. The caves can be accessed only by a 1Km trekking trail from Edakkal. Morning hours are the best time to visit these caves. Entry is permitted only upto 1700 hrs. An interesting trek up of theAmbukuthi Hillnear Ambalavayal town takes you to this fascinating neolithic cave site. Etchings found on the walls of these caves have drawn the serious attention of archaeologists and historians worldwide.

Wayanad wildlife sanctuary, Muthanga-Established in 1973, the Wayanad wildlife sanctuary is contiguous to the protected area network of Nagarhole and Bandipur of Karnataka on the north-east and Muthumalaiof TamilNadu on the south-east. Rich in bio-diversity, the sanctuary is an integral part of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve, which has been established with the specific objective of conserving the biological heritage of the region. The sanctuary is rich in flora and fauna. The management lays emphasis on scientific conservation with due consideration for the general life styles of tribals and others who live in and around the forest.

Day- 12: Wayanad Sightseeing-Calicut-Cochin Travel

Wayanadu Sightseeing and travel to Cochin via Calicut.

Day-13: Shopping and Travel to the Airport at 2 pm

Shopping n Packing. Travel to the Airport at 2 pm.
